May 1. 2021 - Storytelling - DW Jacobs & Preston Scales
I have never been more excited to have Preston come onto a Saturday session.
DW Jacobs is a playwright, theatre producer and actor. He was Karen's acting coach. A really nice guy, he was invited into split time with Preston on storytelling. We had a parent meeting we were going to run at the same time, so I gave him really specific examples of the creativity/improv exercises and theatre games I would want him to run, and I intended only to check in here and there.
DW was also a playwright. His biggest was a script about R. Buckminster Fuller. I am sure this was a great play, but we really hadn't discussed it, nor was it distributed. And I was surprised to come back from the parent session to have all the kids sitting in silence listening to him talking about his play.
I think Preston got emergency texts to log on early. He did and saved the day.
And I mean no disrespect to DW, but this isn't what we asked him to do.

A funny thing happened on the way to this podcast. We had to record it three times because my lame self didn't realize that although I had delivered Preston a podcast mic, we hadn't switched the settings to record that mic, so we were picking up all the fans from his wife, Stef's laptop.
